In 2006 one of the world’s greatest electronic dance acts, Daft Punk, appeared at the Coachella Festival 2006, in California, USA. Their performance was stunning, phenomenal and basically blasted the crowd away. Later that year the two members, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, announced the Alive 2007 World Tour through North-America, Australia and Europe. In that same period the guys mentioned an Alive 2007 DVD.
The year 2007 came and Daft Punk rocked the stages everywhere, which is actually an understatement. Not only the tremendous mash-up of their tracks, but the breathtaking pyramid booth and the synchronised wall of light as well, left no room for discussion: this is beyond anything else in the world of electronic music. The fabulous encore with some Stardust and reworks of Daft Punk’s own tracks came to a climax when the lights went down for just a moment after which the guys, or shall I say robots, appeared in their red contoured light suits just when the bass line pumped One More Time.
It all became clear: The music sounds better with Daft Punk.
In November 2007 the Alive 2007 CD was released, and also a limited edition that featured the encore. But… no DVD. Thomas and Guy-Manuel stated that “the online amateur videos of their performances were more compelling than anything captured professionally”. Possibly, but although those online videos are fantastic, they lack quality. That’s why this petition website was set up: to get Alive Tour footage in Daft Punk Quality. Unfortunately, there is none: not even elements of the show in, let’s say, DVD-quality were shot. So in order to get it we have to do something, we have to beg Daft Punk for another show:
“Daft Punk, please throw another Alive party. It doesn’t matter where; we will be there. Arrange a camera crew and make sure they get their stuff rolling. Release it on DVD. Not only we, the petition signers, but also you want to see in the future. It’s classic.”
If you agree to this, sign the petition. If we collect more than 10,000 email addresses, they will be handed out to Daft Punk, at least to make a statement.

I am very surprised that the show was not professionally recorded. The low quality clips on YouTube just don’t do the performance justice. Fingers crossed for another tour in the States!

Wait a minute.. I thought they were going to release a live dvd of the New York performance? Prior to the performance, on their myspace page, they asked for several hundred volunteers attending the performance with video camera equipment to record the show from their perspective and submit minidv/dvd footage. Maybe assembling the footage into a music video is a technical hurdle, without having all the cameras synced w/ timecode this would be a much more time consuming process….but imagine the possibilities of a musical performance recorded from several hundred perspectives?!? Anyhow….my point was, unless something changed, the label DOES have footage of the performance.

AARGH!!!! Me wants DVD! What a mindblowing experience… I feel lucky to have been there in the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam, what a show… The Alive CD is played frequently in my car and at almost max. volume, goosebumps appear every single time! Why can’t I relive the visual part that came along in the show??? I really hope that someday DP will change their mind and give the fans what we so desperately want…

It happened and now its gone.
If you were lucky enough to be ‘Alive’ and be part of that experience, consider yourself blessed. I do. Twice!
But I’d rather keep it in my memories and let time and nostalgia make it more grand and more beautiful.

It was immense, it was awesome, it totally and completely blew me away…i have never felt that way after a gig, in a massive tent in the scottish highlands…oh yes rockness 2007 was outstanding for that one set alone.
we qued for hours, we missed loads of other bands, we basically went especially to see daft punk, and I have never been so pleased to pay so much to see one band. Youtube vids are all well and good, i get goosebumps when watching them, but nothing would beat a dvd…please guys!
on another note, they were filming at Rockness, from a static camera at the back of the tent….it was offical filming, not some random with a portable camera….footage does exist!

Good work, I am blessed to have bared witness to the best concert/ event of my life. i was one of 50,000 fans who were lucky enough to get tickets for the Sydney (Australia) show which was the fastest to sell out for any Daft Punk-related event in their history.

I am one of the many people around the world who feel forever changed by seeing this show. My sister was at the first show at Coachella April 2006, and she basically told me that I HAVE to catch them at BANG Miami in Nov 2006. That’s all I needed to hear. We flew to Miami and bought tickets to the festival JUST for this set. I’ll never forget the feeling I had after the show: I was just standing there, jaw open, completely overwhelmed by what I had just witnessed, and I knew right away that nobody had ever done anything like this before, and it probably won’t be done again for a long time.
I luckily had a copy of the Coachella set which I must’ve listened to about 500+ times (literally) over the next year to keep the show in my mind and the goosebumps constantly flowing, and then I got the news about the Alive 2007 Tour (with a show in my hometown in July 2007 - L.A.!). I went to that show, which took what I thought was already perfection and improved on it by adding some new visual effects, a couple more tracks laced in, as well as the unforgettable encore presentation. And of course, I was there at their last US show: Vegoose in Las Vegas in Oct 2007 (a year ago *SIGH*). I mean, what’s the only thing better that a Daft Punk Live set? A Daft Punk Live set right off of the strip! I actually yelled at them at the end of the show “WHY? WHY ARE YOU LEAVING US? YOU CAN’T DO THAT! YOU CAN’T JUST BLOW OUR MINDS AWAY AND THEN LEAVE! IT’S NOT FAIR!”
When the CD was released, I bought 3 copies, just so I could give copies to people who I knew who appreciate the quality of the mixing, plus the cool photobook. And I know there are others out there like me. I have seen the effect this show has had on people, from my friends to random strangers that I met at the Electroma screening, all talking about the set with the same level of emotion. This set has definitely had a global impact and united people from all over the world with a universal language: music and lights.
But all that I could think of was: when will the DVD come out? I assumed that once they announced the Alive tour, they would make arrangements to film one of the shows with professional quality video, and release a DVD/Bluray disc with Dolby Digital Surround sound so I could relive the experience again and again forever. I told people that I would buy a Bluray disc player just for this set. Just like a previous post, I would pay ANYTHING to get it, and probably buy at least 5 copies to give away. But I guess that was just wishful thinking…
When I read the quote about “the fans capturing it better than we ever could” I had the same reaction as most people - a kind of “oh, that’s cool, I suppose, but the quality is awful on 97% of those videos” Plus, you can’t watch the whole thing in one sitting without constant interruption. This dvd NEEDS to be made. I’ve tried to explain this set to people who haven’t seen it, but words fall short by a long shot. The only way to share the experience with people is to make this DVD. A big part of me believes that the footage is already out there, but that might only be because I know the chances of them actually doing another performance are quite slim - unless we get this petition out to the masses and really make a difference! My life will not be complete until this DVD is made… :*(

Hello from two moms ages 25 and 34 in a mormon middle class neighborhood sandy, Utah USA we love you guys this is our escape from our children and husbands. The funny thing is its a secret from all our friends and family we just like to let lose at least once a month and just chill with Daft Punk if you only new! We have a brand new soccer stadium it would be the ideal place for an “ALIVE” concert. Or if you like you could fly us to were ever your at AROUND THE WORLD it would be our BEST KEEP SECRET!!!!
